Photo Cleaner Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 19, 2026
Photo Cleaner (the "app") is a free Android app that helps you review and delete photos on your phone. It is developed and published by Jesus Vargas, resident in the Netherlands ("I"). This policy explains what information the app uses and what it does with it.
Summary
- Your photos never leave your phone. Everything happens on the device.
- The app has no internet access. It does not request Android's internet permission, so it cannot send your photos or app data anywhere.
- I don't collect personal data. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking.
What the app uses and why
Photos
The app asks for permission to access your photos because its main function is to show them to you so you can decide which to keep or delete. Photos are read and displayed only on your phone. The app does not copy them, upload them or share them with anyone.
You can grant access to all your photos or only some of them (Android 14 or later), and you can revoke the permission at any time in Android settings.
Your review decisions
When you mark a photo to delete, keep or favorite, the app stores that decision on your phone, together with the photo's identifier and the date, so you can continue where you left off. The identifier is a number Android assigns to each photo; it does not contain the photo, its location or any other content.
Settings and totals
The app stores on your phone your preferences (theme, language, vibration, left-handed mode and which photos to review), how many photos you have deleted and the space freed.
Deleting photos
Photos are only deleted after you confirm in Android's system dialog. They go to Android's trash, where you can recover them for a period defined by the system. If you use Google Photos or another cloud service, copies stored there may not be deleted; they are managed in that app.
Android backup
If Android backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may save only the app's settings file (preferences and totals) so it can be restored if you reinstall the app or move to a new phone. Android performs this backup or transfer in your Google account, under your control, and it is governed by Google's privacy policy. It does not include photos or your review decisions, and I have no access to it.
Google Play and crash data
Google Play distributes the app and processes information about your download under Google's privacy policy; I only see aggregate statistics, such as the number of installs.
If you have turned on Android's "Usage and diagnostics" sharing, Google may collect crash and performance data from your phone, including about this app, and show me anonymous summaries. The app itself does not send this data, and you can turn it off in Android settings.
The app contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or purchase services of its own.
If you email me
If you write to me, I receive your email address and your message. I use them only to reply to you, based on my legitimate interest in answering (GDPR, Article 6(1)(f)), and I delete them when they are no longer needed, at the latest after 12 months.
Children
The app does not collect data from anyone of any age, including children.
Security and retention
The app's information is stored on your phone and protected by Android's security measures. Uninstalling the app makes Android delete this data, except for the settings backup described above if you have it enabled.
Your rights (GDPR)
For the purposes of the GDPR, the controller is Jesus Vargas, the Netherlands (hello.photocleaner@gmail.com). The data described in "What the app uses and why" stays on your phone and I never receive it, so I don't process it and no legal basis is needed for it.
For emails you sent me, you can ask me at any time to see or delete them. You can delete all app data in Android Settings > Apps > Photo Cleaner > Storage > Clear data, or by uninstalling the app. If you have a privacy complaint, you can write to me or contact the data protection authority in your country; in the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes to this policy
If I change this policy, I will publish the new version on this page with its update date.
